5.45 Hollowpoint tests
4 Attachment(s)
Some more results from modified Wolf ammo tests:
1) The modified Wolf fmj (into hollow points) fed perfectly from the ten-round factory mag. They DID NOT feed reliably with Bulgarian military 30-rounders...even with the bullet guide installed. 2) The hollowpoint accuracy to 100 yards is on par with the standard Wolf fmj out of the Saiga. 3) In repeated tests, the hollowpoint bullets fired from ~20 yards penetrated three 1/2gal water-filled milk cartons taped together (that's 12 inches minimum), destroying the first 2 cartons in the process. 4) The only bullets recovered were tiny fragments of steel jacket and lead core from inside the 3rd carton or scattered around on the ground. photos: a. exited side of 3rd carton b. example of recovered bullet fragments c. 3rd carton exit hole d. jug laid on end, shot through bottom, exit out the top |

Re: 5.45 Hollowpoint tests
Seems like a lot of work if you intended to modify each round by hand, even for enough rounds to fill a magazine. Cant you get 5.45 HP ammo?

Re: 5.45 Hollowpoint tests
Cool. Looks like lack of penetration might not be a problem. Of course water in a milk jug isn't ordinance gelatin, but 12inches and still going aint bad.
Do unmodified bullets run in the bulgy mags? Did you pop any jugs w/ 7n6 to compare? |

Factory hollow points are different in that they don't have the deep hollow cavity that my modified bullets do...but I haven't done any testing on them. |
